Traditional Young's pub, full of regulars. Good beer too.
It's very close to many other Clerkenwell pubs including the Dovetail. I almost walked straight past it when I arrived, because there was no crowd of punters spilling onto the street - very unusual for this part of town. Inside, there was no free seating, but standing wasn't uncomfortable.
I tried the St.George's beer, a Young's seasonal: it tasted good and was obviously well-kept. I didn't try anything else that evening. Eventually it became apparent that the seated punters were mostly regulars and were not going to move for the duration. Fortunately, some space opened up at the bar.
We met one of Shaun's CS tutors there. The mysteries of space and time were discussed over more rounds of St.George's.
Certainly worth a return visit, and a good meeting point for visits to the Dovetail and Jerusalem.
